Owner's Comments:
It has been our great honor to visit George Washington's home at Mt. Vernon. The integrity and tremendous stature of Washington are clearly evident when you have an opportunity to be in the space where he lived. Where would Americans be today if General Washington had not resigned his military commission, following the war for Independence, or voluntarily stepped down from the office of President of the United States of America after completing his second term? Our 21st century nation stands now on the shoulders of his greatness and wisdom. This 1932 set of USPS stamps, commemorating the 200th anniversary of George Washington's birth, is a wonderful tribute to a true giant among men.
