Owner's Comments:
This set was retired March, 2006.My original goal in 2001 was to assembly a complete set of M-98s. After almost five years of collecting, I have achieved the following. 1.Ten of the 22 stamps graded M-98 with 4 of the 10 being the only recorded copy. 2. All the other stamps were graded at M-95 or higher except for two graded at M-90. 3. At this date in history, only 17 of the 22 has recorded grades of M-98 or higher. 4. Of the 17 known, 11 are the only recorded copies. 5. Those stamps still missing this lofty grade are numbers 667, 670, 671, 673, and 677. For the future collector of the Kan & Nebr set, I would like to relate my experience and reseach on this very rare set. Through statistical analysis and the use of the bell curve applied to the low quantity issued, one can expect that the normal population of M-98s for each stamp will not exceed ten copies. All stamps in the series are totally under valued based on the price guides. DO NOT be lead to believe that # 679 and 666 are the two rarest stamps in the set. There are many nice copies out there and there values are priced fairly. It is all the other stamps in the set that are undervalued. You will find that # 677 is the rarest stamp in the set but don't overlook the low end values. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUNTING
