  "it is a genuine stamp that is on a letter dated Jan 17, 1863 from a member of the Sanitary Commission that was enclosed and mailed in a Leeds patent envelope with a lattice window. The stamp was applied to the lattice, cancelled with a c.d.s. and stuck to the letter when it was removed from the envelope."
