Henson - 1943-1944 Overrun Countries
1943 Overrun Countries (NH)
Owner's Comments:
Henson Collection - 1943-1944 Overrun Countries (5¢) - Unique multi-color printing only able to be done by American Bank Note Co. versus BE&P at the time - Frames Engraved, Centers Offset Letterpress, Rotary Press Printing, Perferation 12. Plates are 200 stamps with 4 panes of 50 and unique country name in selvage versus plate number. Errors include double impressions, reverse printing, as well as most common "KORPA" error. First 12 Issue dates in 1943 with Scott 921 first issue date in 1944. Inspired hope with Phoenix rising from fire/ashes and woman liberated from shackles in the frame offset by striking color of the flags of initially defeated or "overrun" countries in World War II. As a 30+ year stamp aficionado and collector I feel blessed to appreciate and experience a full Registry Set of Gem 100's in my collection and hope you enjoy the photo's.
